I was asked to shoot this while I was bouncing around the Caribbean and wasn’t sure I’d have enough time to scout locations in between shoots upon my return to Los Angeles. Luckily I found time.
In discussing this project we decided to choose places around Los Angeles that are very much LA but not the obvious backgrounds (Hollywood Blvd., Randy’s Donuts, etc). I decided I wanted to shoot in places that rarely get any of the spotlight so I picked West Adams, San Pedro, and Highland Park in addition to a couple of other locations around town. This photo set was shot in San Pedro.
LA to me is a lot of things but most importantly it’s home. I chose areas that while not too far from where I grew up (Pacoima) still remind me of home.
Equally as important was the chance to work on this project with my dear friend @baronesseast. She is an amazing and talented creative and one of my favorite people. This felt less like work and more like our love letter to LA in some ways.
Thanks to the @kswiss team for making this happen.
